    1. Lake Retba (Lac Rose) - The Pink Lake of Senegal: Lake Retba, also known as Lac Rose in Senegal, is notable for its unusual yet vibrant pink colour. The colour is caused by the Dunaliella salina bacteria, which is attracted to the salt content of the lake. To absorb sunlight, the bacteria produce a red pigment, which gives the lake its distinct color. Swimming in the lake is permitted because these bacteria are completely harmless to humans. The lake is also a source of salt, which is harvested by locals using traditional methods.

The African Renaissance Monument, Senegal: The African Renaissance Monument is the tallest statue in Africa, standing 161 feet (49 meters) on top of one of the twin hills of Collines des Mamelles outside Dakar. This magnificent bronze statue, designed by Senegalese architect Pierre Goudiaby and built overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in the Ouakam suburb, was unveiled on April 3, 2010. The statue depicts a woman, a man, and a child emerging from a volcano and was intended to symbolize the triumph of African liberation.

    3. The Great Mosque in Djenne, Mali: The Great Mosque of Djenné, located in southern Mali, is the world's largest mud-brick structure. It is nearly 20 meters tall and is supported by a 91-meter-long platform. Because the structure requires annual reinforcement, the walls of the great mosque are reconstructed with mud every year in April in a grand one-day event known as the Crépissage (Plastering). During the Crépissage, residents of Djenné, work together to repair and rebuild the Grand Mosque.
